Board of Directors
I am a recently retired Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) with the BC Emergency Health Services. Having spent the last 30 years or more submersed in the organized chaos of human crisis, I sought to engage in something a little more focused! I have spent a number of years volunteering and chairing for boards in the Not For Profit – Health & Wellness industry. My roles on prior boards has been inclusive of managing board structures, governance and negotiating policy.
I offer a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the healthcare system at large; recently joining Patient Pathways as a “Navigator” and “Patient-Advocate”, supporting individuals through health-crisis and end of life decisions. My personal direction and dedication to this position on the board with The Watson Clinic, has stemmed from recent events very close to home. My husband and my sister came through Watson’s doors last year, graduating the program as new people! My sister has had multiple strokes, leaving her with executive cognitive disfunction; and my husband suffered multiple, sport-related concussions over 40 years, resulting in permanent mental disabilities. Their journeys through Watson’s programming had overwhelmingly positive outcomes. Months of training and personal commitment has given them their lives and their independence back. It was truly life-changing for all of us. It is, therefore, a pleasure and privilege to remain part of the Watson team. As a continued advocate of Watson’s brain health clinics, I’m dedicated to the goals of moving this work forward into mainstream healthcare. I’m hopeful of exposing an enormously diverse community of brain injured people to the benefits of participation in this pioneering treatment that will transform not only the injured but the caregivers lives as well.
