About

In addition to its broad definition, brain health has various attributes. This dynamic state of being is underpinned by physiological processes and is multidimensional, encompassing a range of subjective experiences and objective measures. It is influenced by the environment, psychosocial factors, and ecological factors. This state of being results in a continuum of quality of life and wellness. However, it is not yet clear exactly what it means. In the meantime, there is no universally accepted definition of brain health.

What are the primary aspects of brain health? First, we should know that brain health changes over time. The changes in the brain are caused by the presence or modification of various risk factors and protective factors as well as by ageing. Whether a person’s brain is healthy or not will depend on the changes that occur in the body over time. For example, the brain develops cognitive disorders with age. For this reason, it is important to monitor the health of your brain to avoid problems in the future.

Another important aspect of brain health is staying mentally engaged. Learning new skills will challenge your mind, create new connections between brain cells, and improve its performance. In addition, learning something new will improve your mood and decrease your feelings of social isolation – which are key risks for brain health. Exercising regularly also lights up all areas of the brain, including the regions associated with learning and memory. Exercise may even increase the size of the part of the brain associated with learning.
